Hi there!
Sorry I’m a bit late posting the winner of the I Love it all print! Forgive me! ;) The winner is … (drum roll please…)
Congratulations goes to…
Yay! Happy for you, Shelly! Click on the envelope icon on the right side of my blog and e-mail me your address which item you’d love from Monika’s etsy store and I will pass it along to her!! :-D Hope you enjoy it! Thanks to everyone who entered! I will be having another giveaway soon so don’t worry if you didn’t win this time – there’s always next time! Yay for giveaways! :-D
Also, I wanted to remind you all that September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and there are lots of things you can do to help in the fight against childhood cancer. Here are some ways that you can do your part and help:
1. September 27th is an excellent day to eat at Chili’s. All Chili’s nationwide will donate 100% of the profits to St. Jude on September 27, 2010!! Visit www.createapepper.com for more details. You can also purchase t-shirts and keys where the profits go to St. Jude.
2. For every person who signs up for the Chili’s newsletter in September, Chili’s will donate $1.00 to St. Jude. Visit www.chilis.com to sign up!
3. There are lots of runs and marathons this month to support this cause. Even if you just walk them – they’re great to take part in. If I wasn’t this far along in my pregnancy, I definitely would.
4. Host a drive for the following: DVDs, hardback books, new games or puzzles, new toys (no stuffed animals). St. Jude’s Hospital uses these items and so do the three housing facilities there.
5. Drop your coins in the plastic bins in front of the McDonald’s counters (the ones for Ronald McDonald Charities). The extra change raises 17.5 million per year for St. Jude!
6. Visit www.rmhmemphis.org and click on Donate to find a wish list for the Ronald McDonald house. This is where many children and their families stay when they have chemo. They have a stocked pantry (thanks to donations) where the families can make meals. They also get Kroger gift cards and they even have a Target gift registry that you can click on and send items.
7. Collect Pop Tabs from soda cans, canned fruits/vegetables, pet food, etc. The Pop Tabs are then sold to recycling facilities and the money earned is used to pay for chemo treatments.
8. Send items for the kids. St. Jude is always in need of items for the children. Things like craft kits, handbags, Crocs, quilts/blankets, t-shirts, crocheted hats (many wear these when they lose their hair).
9. Take part in the Cards for Kids card drive and touch the life of some of these sweet children and their families. You can find out more about it HERE.
10. Pray. Pray for these sweet children and their families. Keep them in your thoughts and pray, pray, pray.
Speaking of the Cards for Kids card drive – we’ve drawn the prizes for Round 3 and are just finalizing it and will post the winners soon and then start the next round. I’m excited! We had over 1500 cards made for these children and their families this past round! How wonderful! Thank you to ALL who have taken part in this wonderful cause. The outpouring of love is just so wonderful and heart-warming.
Ok, off of here I go. I managed to make a few things today with some felt (more garland, those little felt flags for my daughter’s birthday cucpcakes and a banner) and I hope to share that on here soon. It was fun! I LOVE me some felt! Time to reorder! ;) In case you are wondering – I get my felt from HERE. LOVE her felt. If you order some – tell her I sent you! :-D I’ve also got an “ode to the polaroid” coming soon. Heehee! Check back! Hugs!
