Hi sweet blog readers!
I know what you’re thinking … ANOTHER fundraiser, Kristina?! Geesh! I hear ya. I honestly feel as though I’ve been organizing a fundraiser this entire year and basically I have (between the MS Walk fundraiser for my Mom and now this one), but you know what – there could be worse things, right? ;)
This fundraiser though, as you can imagine, has a great deal of significance to me because as most of you know, my 5-year-old daughter, Caylin, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on March 2nd and THIS is our life now. Sure, we’re adjusting, but I’m not going to lie. It’s hard. It’s emotional. It’s scary. It makes me angry. It bothers me. It frustrates me. It hurts me. You know what though? It also encourages me. It reminds me of what we DO have. It strengthens me. It brings me closer to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It gives me hope and a new purpose and it allows me to dream BIG and DO something and that is what this fundraiser is all about. It’s honestly my most important fundraiser to date because it’s for my daughter’s future and what could be more important to a Mama? I can’t just sit and do nothing. So this one, I’m hoping, is HUGE and I hope I reach my goal of $10,000. Yes, you read that right. I can do it. I NEED to do it. SO many children and their families are affected by Type 1 and my dream is a cure. This is my purpose.
Now the fundraiser hasn’t launched just yet – I’m still in the organizing and gathering sponsorships for it right now, but I just wanted to put this out here in blogland so that if you, your company/business or someone you know might want to sponsor us in the “Walk for a Cure” that this fundraiser is going to help, then please contact me. I am in MAJOR need of big prize donations. Like the kind of prize donations that folks stop and say – “Whoa! I wanna win that!” I’m really hoping for a donations of a Kindle, iPad2, DSL camera, lap top, Wii system – you know – the big ticket items that really help raise money for a great cause. And I know that 99.9% of people who do open up their hearts and wallets to donate don’t do it for the prizes, but I think having sponsors and prizes really help a fundraiser raise even MORE money.
I will be posting about this fundraiser from time to time on my blog to keep you updated on it and in the months ahead of course when it’s in full-swing and I pray that you stick around and don’t get sick of me when I use my blog as an outlet to help this worthy cause. I promise to keep posting cutie patootie pie baby photos, scrapbook layouts, crafty inspiration and great songs I come across. I just need to do this for my daughter and for the countless other children this horrible disease affects. It’s what I want to do and have to do and by golly I’m going to do it and we’ll get there and when it’s all said and done it’ll make a difference, I just know it. And when I look at my sweet daughter running around in the grass chasing bubbles with the biggest smile on her face, I know that all of this hard work is worth it and I’ll start to plan next year’s fundraiser and my dream and my goal will be even bigger. ;)
Big hugs and blessings to you all!
