I had a very sweet woman named Lori Anderson contact me a few weeks back. She said she wanted to do something to help raise money for Caylin’s Cure and Diabetes research. I was SO appreciative and so thankful. She is a sweetheart and not only that, but she makes GORGEOUS jewelery. Lori has started an auction with three beautiful pieces of jewelry that she has made and YOU can head on over to her website HERE and bid on them!
Here are the three beautiful pieces Lori has up for auction that she made:
Aren’t those beautiful? Sigh. LOVE them! 100% of the proceeds are going to Caylin’s Cure. Then in a few days, she is going to post about how you can join a blog hop to auction off a piece of jewelry at whatever percentage you choose if you or someone you know creates jewelry, too! You can pick something out of your existing inventory — you don’t even have to make anything. Isn’t that neat? Can you imagine how many beautiful, wonderful pieces of jewelry there are going to be to bid on? I love the fact that not only are these pieces beautiful – they are really one-of-a-kind and I love supporting people who create handmade goodness.
So please check out the auction HERE and bid on a piece to benefit Caylin’s Cure and diabetes research. The bidding ends on June 4th @ 3 p.m.

We started Caylin’s Cure not even a month ago and I’m happy to say that we have raised $2100 for diabetes research already! We can’t thank you enough for your generosity! We are now shifting our fundraising to help raise money for a wonderful doctor named Dr. Denise Faustman and her wonderful team at Faustman Lab at Massachusetts General. Dr. Faustman has won numerous awards for her research and is making great strides in finding a cure for not only type 1 diabetes, but other autoimmune diseases as well.
We feel confident in her and are backing her 100% so that from this point on – ALL donations will be going to the Faustman Lab. In 2001, her lab reversed type 1 diabetes in mice with end stage disease, a project that is now being translated into human clinical trials. Right now they are raising money to support these trials and to continue this much needed research. Dr. Faustman also does NOT do research on embryonic stem cells, which is something I am strongly against, so I am thankful for her and her work.
You can read more about the Faustman Lab and Dr. Faustman’s work HERE. I hope you will continue to support Caylin’s Cure as we continue to raise awareness and money for type 1 diabetes. Your help is SO appreciated, so please continue to spread the word about Caylin’s Cure! There are still great prizes to be won and everyone who has donated and will donate is entered into the prize drawings this Fall. We’ve got so many great goodies including that awesome iPad2! Check out the details HERE.
Right now I am waiting to hear back from the folks at Massachusetts General (where the lab is located) on how to set up donations to them that come via Caylin’s Cure so I can keep track on how much we are raising and how much each person donates for prize entries, etc. Because of the holiday weekend I have not heard back yet, but I am hoping to hear back from them on Tuesday. Right now I have a “Chip In” widget set up on the right sidebar of my blog to accept donations for Caylin’s Cure. ALL donations will be donated directly to Faustman Lab so they can continue to do the awesome research they are doing. Once you make a donation, I am alerted to it and I will be sure your name is entered to the the prizes we are giving away. You are welcome to send a check if you’d prefer that as well – just email me for the address where you can send that.
Thank you again for the HUGE support we have received. I tell Caylin on a daily basis how many people are supporting our fundraiser and are praying for her and she gets THE biggest smile on her face. Yesterday she said to me, “Mama, one of these dollars that someone donates MIGHT purchase a cure.” I thought that was so sweet, but she’s right. It just takes a little bit to make a BIG difference.
Won’t you help us make a difference?
Thanks so much! BIG hugs to you all!
Rachel
May 30, 2011 at 2:29 amI think God led me to this post. I've been looking for a long time for a researcher who doesn't use embryonic stem cells, and Dr. Faustman sounds amazing!
My little sister is desperately waiting for a cure – her pump is not enough to keep her stable. Please keep us posted! Thank you so much
