Yesterday was Diabetes Art Day.
Diabetes Art Day is a web-based initiative for the Diabetes Online Community to “tell a story” about life with diabetes though creative visual expression. It’s encouraged to use some sort of diabetic supply in your artwork. Caylin was super excited to participate in it this year. This is what she created:
She decided to use the end caps of new syringes – after all she gets 4 injections each day so she knew she’d have plenty to use. ;) She dipped the ends in pretty rainbow-colored acrylic paint and then glued them onto a canvas in the shape of a heart. Hearts (and smiley faces) are her favorite and it’s a reminder of all of the love in her life that gets her through the hard times that diabetes can bring about. I love this so much and am so proud of her … for so many reason … but just is just one more of those happy mama moments for me. She is an absolute delight and I am so thankful she is my daughter. I admire her. I am so thankful for her. I am lucky to be her mama. She makes MY heart all colorful and happy. Yep, that’s my girl. :)
