Hi there friends!
Happy Friday to you and welcome to the first day of my simple, stress-free weekly challenge that I am giving myself (and YOU if you’d like to play along) called the “Right Now” challenge.
You can read more about the challenge and why I’m doing it HERE. I hope you will play along! I jotted down a good amount of stuff this week! I’m so happy that I am doing this because I might not have given some things a second thought! I am working on some “right now” journaling cards for Project Life as a freebie so be sure to bookmark my blog and/or sign up to receive my blog via email (see my sidebar!) so you don’t miss out! I think these little “Right Now” tidbits will be a perfect addition to my Project Life pages each week and it’s SO simple to do! There’s no rule as to how many things you have to do – you just jot down bits of things you don’t want to forget about your every day life and then voila – that’s it! ;) Ok, so here is what I’m remembering this week:
- When you ask Jack how old he’s going to be he says, “TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
- Jack is obsessed with Mater.
- When I’m in the bathroom doing my hair and makeup, Jack will always find me and open up my blow dryer and curling iron drawer. He’ll then proceed to shoot me with the blow dryer (it shoots lasers, you know) and he uses one of my curling irons as a microphone and sings, “Rock On, Veggietales!” ;)
- Caylin loves Angry Birds, especially the King Pig. She has always called it “Queen Pig” though and so this Halloween she is going as the “Queen” pig. This past week we made her costume together.
- I love hearing Jack’s little voice say, “Play cars? Play cars? Play cars?” He says it A LOT.
- Caylin has such a tenderheart. Lately we’ve been holding hands when we say our nightime prayers together. The other night I opened my eyes a bit to look at her and her face was angelic. I almost cried.
- Caylin doesn’t like much candy at all, but the one sweet thing she loves is a dum dum lollipop. Her favorite flavor is blue raspberry. We only buy them around Halloween and she never eats that many of them. I actually cringe when she eats one, not only because I know they’re not good for her, but because her tongue, teeth and lips are all blue. Ick.
- Every time Michael mows the grass, Jack will run to the window in my office and want the blinds pulled up so he can see his Daddy out in the yard. He’ll sit there and play cars on the window ledge while he waits for his Daddy to walk by with the lawnmower. :)
See! That’s it! I know I won’t have THAT much written down every week, but I’m just happy to have something! I think these little things matter, too and so why not add them to the story of our life as we document it! Even just ONE little memory about an everyday moment that is happening RIGHT NOW will be a blessing. I just know it. :)
If you are playing along, I’d love for you to link me up in the comment section below! If you aren’t playing along yet – you can start at any time! Feel free to use the above graphic and then link back to my blog here so others can find it and join in!
Some ways I’m remembering to document these “right now” memories:
- Pull out your phone and use it! Most smartphones nowadays have a voice recording feature or app! Just one more reason why I love my iPhone. :)
- Keep a small notebook in your purse/car
- Put a journal or notebook on your nightstand or near your bed and every night before you go to sleep – think about the day and jot down any little memory or moemnbt you don’t want to forget.
- Keep a little document on your desktop that you can add to during the week. Maybe when you’re looking at blogs, working with your photographs or working on your blog, you will think of something you don’t want to forget. :)
I’m looking forward to reading more “Right Now” moments! Happy documenting! Have a great weekend ahead! Hugs!

October 6, 2012 at 5:37 pmMy youngest loved to watch his dad mow the grass. We got him one those Fisher-Price mowers this summer and I’m pretty sure he logged a lot of miles on it.

October 9, 2012 at 7:37 pmI recently started the notebook/journal idea you mentioned. I got this awesome book from Paper Coterie that’s perfect for it. It has page designed to write a quick memory for each day. I’ve already found it very cool to look back over.
My Memory Keeping Plan: 2015 - One Happy Mama
January 8, 2015 at 6:00 am[…] With 2015 in full swing, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how fast the years are going by and how I am wanting to be more intentional with my memory keeping and when spending time with my family. Life can be so easily rushed at times, ya know? My kids are growing up so fast and I want the stories that I write down and the memories that I record to be ones that are not only the milestone memories and moments, but those every day moments that are so fleeting. That is why I am most definitely continuing my Right Now Challenge that I gave to myself a couple of years back. You can read more about that HERE. […]
