Happy Project Life® Tuesday!
Today I am switching things up a bit and I’m going to show you all a couple of videos that will you give you some insight into how I organize, edit, print and cut my photos for my Project Life®.
I’ve broken the videos down to two pretty short videos. The first one is going to show you just a glimpse into how I keep things organized and how I print my 3×4 photos and the smaller photos that you see on my pages.
The second video is going to show you how I use the awesome photo templates that I love to switch things up a bit and add a bit extra to my Project Life® without taking up a lot of time.
So let’s begin, shall we? Oh, and please excuse my dorkiness. Ha! I’m SO not good at these videos, but I hope they help! :)
Oh, and you can click on the video – watch it at youtube.com and click on the gear icon and put it in 1080 HD and it’s MUCH more clear! :)
Here’s the first video!
Ok, so a few things I wanted to go over.
- You can find that super cute organizational desktop wallpaper HERE. LOVE it! :)
- The printer that I love and use is the Canon Pixma iP4600.
- The photo paper that I use is the Office Depot Professional Photo Paper 4×6 in Gloss. Yep, I use Office Depot brand. LOL. It’s quality and price are great and so – why not? :)
- The trimmer I use is the Fiskars Rotary Trimmer. Sometimes it doesn’t cut the straightest, but this is what I use. ;)
- I get asked this a lot – “Do you plan your pages in advance? I hardly EVER plan my pages in advance. Honestly I just don’t have the time for it. Here’s the reason why I don’t really NEED to plan my pages … this is a secret so don’t tell anyone. LOL! ;) My Project Life® is NOT done on a weekly basis. By that I mean, I haven’t ever done the two-page spread that is week so and so through so and so. Nope. Just too stressful for me. I THINK I started out doing it that way a couple of years ago, but then would just get a bit stressed out when I didn’t have enough photos to fill the two-page spread OR if I have just way too many photos and had to get them all in and add inserts, etc. So what I do now is I just go in chronological order, but just fill the pages as I live. It’s such a nice relief to NOT have to stick to a weekly page spread and I can just open up my album and stick the next photos that I want to use in chronological order and add journaling to what I want to add to and then stick in some filler cards to fill in any empty spots. I can use inserts IF I want to or have some memorabilia, etc., but it’s not necessary most of the time. I find that really simplifies the process EVEN MORE for me and I love that. That’s what so great about Project Life® – it can be tailored to fit into YOUR life and YOUR time. Everyone is different. We all have different goals for our memory keeping and this way is just the most simple and least stressful way for me. :) The times when I DO plan a page or two is usually for an insert when I have maybe a group of photos from a trip or a birthday or something like that and then all that I do is go through my extra page protector inserts (which I keep organized in a album with the dividers) and pull out one that I want to use and make sure that I have pictures sized accordingly for that page protector. That’s the extent of my planning and well – I like to be a rebel and just wing it! Ha! ;)
Here’s the second video I wanted to share with you all:
Ok, now for the extra fun part! Tracy Larsen is so sweet and has offered to give one of my readers a set of her Simply White Collection V1, V2 and V3! Yay! You can choose from either the rounded corners or the squared corners!
Just leave me a comment below telling me telling me about a favorite photo you’ve taken recently. I’ll use the random number generator to choose a winner!
Thanks so much for watching the videos and for reading along! I really hope these have helped, but if there is something that you are wondering about or would like to know – let me know! Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday! Hugs to you all!

March 11, 2014 at 9:08 amI took a picture recently of my two boys, 4 and 6, playing with Elsa’s ice castle. They are obsessed with the movie Frozen and I made them an Elsa and Anna out of paper and pretty soon they wanted me to make beds for their paper dolls…eventually I had to make a castle of cereal boxes and paper!

March 11, 2014 at 10:26 amGreat video tutorials! I love to see other people post their PSE video tutorials. I have a few photo templates but haven’t used them much. You’ve inspired me to work with them. I recently ordered from Persnickety Prints, a 12×12 photo of my son and our dog. I’m looking forward to getting that into his PL album…will cut to fit in a pocket page! Can’t wait to check out Tracy’s goodies!

March 11, 2014 at 10:48 pmLove the videos and all your information is SUPER helpful! Thanks for spilling the beans about your PL pages. I’m sure your secret is safe with all your readers.
I am on my 5th year of PL and I’m finding that I make it more complicated than it is meant to be. : ) I know it is worth the effort when I see my family looking through our albums, but I know I need to simplify my process! It seems like these templates would help.
I just took a picture of my two sets of twin boys, ages 10 1/2 yrs and 2 1/2 yrs, with their Great Grandpa, who is 94 yrs old, last Sunday afternoon sitting on the couch in the living room of his home where he and Great Grandma live. It is such a blessing to have Grandparents, especially Great Grandparents!! The best part was when my Grandpa held my hand as I showed him the picture and he said to me, “thank you for doing this.” …of course I had to post the picture on Facebook since they share a Facebook account. : )

March 12, 2014 at 8:44 amJust recently found you through YouTube and I LOVE your video tutorials – thank you!! Tracy’s Simply White collection looks awesome!
A favorite picture, taken this past Sunday, was of the dining room light fixture that was ON and streaming lots of bright light into the room. This was a favorite because we had just spent nearly 3 days without power, due to an ice storm – so when the power came back I took pictures of lights being on! :) It’s going to a great story for the scrapbook for sure!

March 12, 2014 at 10:19 amGreat Post. I am obsessed with taking pictures… I think the pictures I’m most excited about at the moment are the everyday boring ones. I use my collect app everyday to capture the everyday little things and I have loved the candid captures I get.

I’ve been bad about using my camera lately, but had some favorites yesterday when we were out enjoying the warm weather & the kids found and were fascinated by a centipede! They watched it for a good 20 minutes – so cute!

March 12, 2014 at 5:51 pmA recent favourite picture I took was of myself (using the timer, of course) ironing fabric and sewing cushions for my living-room’s cat tree, late at night on a Wednesday because sometimes you get so passionate about a project you just can’t stop even though it’s way past your bedtime. Thankfully I don’t do that too often.
Also, thanks for the chance to win Tracy’s templates. I adooore her clean, simple, white style.

March 17, 2014 at 12:38 pmOh I must admit I have been having a love feast taking pics of my girls as of late. My oldest who’s 7 just started ballet so of course I had to snap some pics of her posing. I also did a confetti shoot w/her which was SUCH a blast. Yes we did it outside! Then of course w/the baby I take a million pics daily but she recently was moved into a crib.. GASP and has started to turn over from her back to her belly so mama has to capture those awesome preemie baby milestones. OH & today well I have been having a BLAST capturing her 1st St. Patty’s day. Next week I will be taking pics of my boys because my oldest HS baseball games will be starting and my 10 yr will soon be 11 EEEEKK and we have one AWESOME day trip planned just him and I and mama can’t wait! Thanks for the chance darling!
