Where oh where do the years go?
Yep, that’s a question you can hear Mamas all across the globe asking themselves when their babies celebrate a birthday. I found myself asking that again this morning as I woke up to having a 10-year-old. DOUBLE-DIGITS, PEOPLE!
Wasn’t it just yesterday that she was playing in the puddles, blowing bubbles and giggling when she popped them, running around picking up dandelions and making a wish on EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM? Wasn’t it just yesterday that she was playing with My Little Ponies and learning how to write the alphabet? Wasn’t it just yesterday when she was wearing “cuppy shoes” and scared of balloons? My oh my birthdays are sweet, but our hearts do break a bit as we see our babies grow.
I am just so proud of the young lady she has grown into the past 10 years. She was my first and is my only daughter. She is so special to me – more than words could ever say. She is brave and strong. She wears her heart on her sleeve and when she is your friend, she is your friend for LIFE. She is hilarious, like a second-Mama to her brothers, so very helpful and smart. She’s kind and generous and just brings so much joy into our lives. I’m so very thankful for these past 10 years with her. So very thankful that God has allowed me to be her Mama. She’s a good one. I love her a lot.
I thought now would be a good time to jot down her “currently” list, too so here it is. :)
Watching: Pokemon XY and her brothers for a little bit of money
Loving: Pokemon, Shopkins, Mario Bros Dog tags, Wii and Stink books
Eating: Cinnamon Sugar cookies, hot dogs and tortilla chips
Playing: with her brothers, her friends down in the culdesac and with Pikachu
Singing: Feel It by Toby Mac and Whip and Nae-Nae
Asking: For more Pokemon cards
Negotiating: For more Pokemon cards
Wearing: Pokemon t-shirts, comfy tanks, colorful socks and her Hello Kitty shorts
Looking forward to: Crazy for Christmas

November 4, 2015 at 2:17 pmHappy Birthday, Caylin! Crazy how time flies. I have 3 nieces, and the youngest is 10. I miss the younger years! But it is neat starting to hear some of the wise, “mature moments” she has!
