Back when I was little, one of my most favorite things to play was store. I remember I had this toy cash register and I just loved to pretend to scan things, ring them up and ask the customer for the money for them. I can remember playing store with my little sisters and now with my kids – all three of them love playing store. I guess it’s just that fun thing that we do as kids that still remains fun even as we get older because it’s honestly something I still love to do to this day. Can anyone else relate? That’s why I might have been a little giddy myself when the sweet folks at Osmo sent my kids their super fun, educational game, Pizza Co.
Y’all, this game is just the cutest and get this – my kids were practicing their math and money skills, all the while having fun. Yep, they had no idea either! Ha! I feel so sneaky. ;)
Here’s what all is included with this game:
• Pizza/Tray
• Toppings
• Money tiles
• Pizza Co. app
With this game, you essentially run your own pizza shop. You make pizzas for your customers, you give your customers back the correct change, you invest back into your business, you learn how you have to spend money for items for your shop and the list goes on and on. Being an entrepreneur myself, it was super neat to see my kids talking about the things they needed to purchase for their shop even before the shop opened (a super cute veggie truck stops by and drops off fresh veggies for the day) and how they were going to invest some money back into their shop to spiffy it up and get more customers. The kids are the boss and that, my friends is really cool.
Here’s what your kids will learn playing this game:
• Addition & subtraction
• Fractions
• Fast-paced mental math
• Nonverbal communication skills
• Basic business concepts
Last month we got to try out Osmo’s newest game, Coding Jam (you can see that post HERE) and my kids were super giddy about trying this one. It was on their Osmo wish list and it didn’t disappoint.
This game is for ages 6-12, so Luke was a bit too young to do the math (he’s going to be 4 in August), but he did love helping his brother and sister make the pizzas and he was a great helper when it came to handing them the money for the change.
The game is easy to play, easy to understand and the graphics are super cute. The customers are all different types of animals (the llama dude with the sunglasses was my kids’ favorite) and when you give the customer good service, they will sometimes leave a great customer review for you OR if you don’t get their order right – you’ll definitely see it on their face. It’s a great way for kids to practice good, customer service skills! They’re keeping their customers happy, learning so many great life skills AND having fun! Such a neat concept and game!
To give the customers their change, you simply flip the pizza over and then place their change on the circle and the iPad picks it up because of the reflector that is on the camera (the red contraption that sits on top of the iPad). It’s super cool and interactive and the kids love it!
Pizza Co. is a great addition to our growing Osmo collection and one that I am sure to incorporate into our homeschool day as well this Fall.
If you haven’t tried any of the Osmo games yet and you have kids and an iPad – you totally need to check them out. Osmo’s games are all so creative and cool and they’re a big hit with the kids (and adults, too)!
Oh, and special thanks to Osmo for not only the really cool game, but for a good reason to have a pizza night. I mean, we HAD to have some pizza for a photo prop, right? ;)
Disclosure: Osmo sent my kids Pizza Co. to try out and play, but all opinions expressed in this blog post are solely my own. No other compensation was given. Osmo’s games are just super cool and we love them!
