Hey friends! Remember last week when I told you that I was going to be back soon with another awesome new Osmo game? Well, here I am and yep, this game is a good one, friends. This one is right up there as one of MY favorites (not that I was playing it or anything). ;)
The newest game that Osmo has released is called Detective Agency and I have to say that this one both Luke AND Jack got a kick out of, which I loved. Lately Jack (my oldest) hasn’t been wanting to play Osmo (he’s in that stage of thinking everything is TOO babyish for him), but when it came to Detective Agency, he wanted in and ended up loving it and has been playing it a lot since we got it.
Just like with all Osmo games, you first need an iPad and the Osmo base. Each game you buy works with the base and your iPad to open up the door to SO many adventures and learning tools for your kids. It’s just awesome – I can’t say that enough.
Here is what is included with the game:
A magnifying glass, a map holder box and four double-sided fold-out maps with 8 cities.
Here are some things that I love about this new game:
• It’s colorful, eye-catching, whimsical and fun. I love the graphics, the super cool maps and how interactive it is.
• I love how my kids are learning problem-solving and they are getting to know more about other cities, countries and cultures.
• I love how everything is kept all organized in a super cute box so that it’s easy to store and grab when they’re ready to play (Osmo always has great storage solutions for their games).
• I love how not only does your child see the “cartoon” version of the item that they are looking for when they are solving the mystery – a lot of times they see an ACTUAL photo of it and then also some more information about it! Loved how Osmo put that extra touch in the game. Seeing a real life photo of it just THAT much more awesome. Great touch indeed!
• I love how my littlest is practicing counting and how my kids are learning how to really look for details and be persistent when problem-solving.
• I love that my 5-year-old who had never heard of Rio de Janeiro before now knows it’s in Brazil and talks about how the “Jesus” monument is there. Pretty cool.
Kids get to explore the world all the while learning and they get to help solve mysteries, which, let’s face it, kids love! This game is seriously a must-have!
Jack loved looking for clues and NOT getting any hints. He was challenging himself every time and I often found him reading about the different places, landmarks, history and cultures. I did catch him using the magnifying glass as a sword once, but then again, he’s 8. Ha!
Luke loved the game, too! He loved looking at his “reward shelf” in the game where you can see all of the rewards that you’ve earned for solving the mysteries and then you can take those rewards and use them to decorate the walls and shelves in your office. There’s also a cool pin-board that you can look at and see all of the cases and that you have solved. I found that this game challenged him in a good way. This game is for ages 5+ and so it was perfect for him. He loved learning more about the different landmarks and he also loved talking back to the characters. There are so many great characters in the game, all with different personalities. It’s super interactive and silly!
Yep, this game is a new favorite of ours. There is tons to do, tons to see and tons to learn with this game.
Once again Osmo did not disappoint! This game is going to come in super handy for all of these cold winter months coming up.
I mean, look at the joy on Jack’s face! You don’t have to be a detective to figure out how awesome this game is. You will see it all over your kids’ faces as they play, learn and problem-solve. Thumbs up, Osmo!
Mission complete! ;)
