Do you choose a word every year or maybe you let a word choose you?
My word for 2019 didn’t come as easy for me for some reason. This is the first year where I’ve struggled to find a word, grab ahold of it and for it to feel right. I wrestled with a few words – all of which felt good, but none of them felt right. Then the Lord placed a word onto my heart and after church on Sunday (+ hearing our pastor speak) I knew that the clarity I had been praying for was given to me and my word came to me and I knew at that moment it was right.
My word for 2019 is LOOK.
So how am I going to use the word “LOOK” in my life in 2019. Well, that’s the neat thing about our words – sometimes they show up unexpectedly and take a form that we hadn’t thought of just yet, but right now – I am going to implement the lesson that our pastor talked about on Sunday when I gained that clarity and peace for my word as he was discussing Joshua 12:7. You can watch more in my stories tonight (if you’d like before they vanish – I explain it more in-depth there), but I am going to be sure to LOOK BACK (and remember where I’ve come from and how much I’ve grown as I go through the year. I think it’s important to not forget that as we live our lives. I’m going to LOOK OUT for the enemy and those that are toxic, unkind and only want to bring people down. It’s important who we surround ourselves with friends. I’m going to LOOK AHEAD at my goals, my ambitions, what I hope to accomplish and grab ahold of that child-like faith that so many of us lose as we get older. I’m going to look for that and find it, my friends. And most importantly, I’m going to LOOK UP. I’m going to pray more, look to God’s Word more, look for the good more, look for opportunities to bless others, help others, share with others and also look to others when needed. I’m going to LOOK at the beauty of life – REALLY LOOK AT IT MORE and savor it. Take it all in.
Look for moments of rest and rejuvenation. Look for more ways to be silly and be off of my phone. I’m going to examine my intentions and focus on making 2019 the best year yet and it’s not going to be because everything is going to be perfect and rainbows and roses. It’s going to be perfect because I’m going to look and see the good in it all despite the not-so-good moments.
So there ya go. That’s my word for 2019 and I’m really thankful that I’ve got one, it feels SO right and I know I’ll see it work in my life as 2019 comes and goes. I’d love for you to take a minute and share your word with me and a bit about why you chose it.
Here’s to a new year full of possibilities to LOOK!
