Salt Lake City: Travel Album 2019

Hi friends!

Today I’m sharing my completed Salt Lake City travel album that I put together to document the trip I took to the Young Living Convention back in mid-July. I used all Ali Edwards travel goodies from both the main kit and the add-ons, too. I just love how coordinated everything is and it was SO much fun to document it all in the 3×8 album size, which is something that I’ve never done before.

Now just like with all of my Project Life pages, traditional layouts and mini albums – I kept it super simple. I’m not a huge embellisher – I do JUST enough, but never do too much so it’s never too overwhelming to me and I never have to overthink it!

To keep things super simple, I created a 3×8 file in Photoshop, added my text (left room at the top for the graphic) and then just simply cut the graphic from the 3×8 card in the kit and adhered it to the top of my printed out file. Ha! Totally an easy way to do it because let’s face it – setting up cards to print on is time consuming and never works out hardly (at least for me!) and so since I didn’t want to handwrite it all – I went this route. You’ll see this a lot throughout this album – utilizing the journaling cards, but in a unique way!

Can I just say that if you’re EVER in SLC – you HAVE to go to the MonkeyWrench. They have dairy free ice cream and it’s SOOOOOO good! I mean, seriously the best! I went there a couple of times. I probably could have went there a couple more times, but limited myself. Ha! Two pictures of ice cream made it into this album, so you know it’s good!

Some of my pages just had photos and I was totally OK with that. Friends, you don’t HAVE to journal EVERY last detail about your trip or embellish EVERY page.

I love including brochures in my mini albums, especially when I travel and so I was sure to include this brochure from the Mona Farm. Do y’all know the super cool brochure trick?

All you do is punch holes in your brochure like normal, but THEN open it up and cut slits in the holes on the INSIDE so that you can fold out your brochure and open it when it’s in your album! Pretty genius, eh? I think Amy Tangerine was the one who taught me that trick and I use it all of the time when adding brochures into my albums!

I really need to clean my camera lens, clearly. Ha! Just a simple heart sticker with a staple through it here! See. SUPER SIMPLE. That’s the name of  my game – get those memories documented!

I have mad love for those little felt banners! SO cute!

If you have never seen Imagine Dragons in concert … you NEED to. That’s all I’m saying. My kids thought I was SO cool because I got to see them in concert and well, duh! I’m totally a cool Mom!

I decided to include my baggage claim tag in my album, too. I simply just tied it to the d-ring of the album. Done!

This trip was not all roses and sunshine friends. If you know me, you know I’m not a fan of traveling. There, I said it. Nope. I’m a homebody. I’d rather be home, hanging with my peeps, but I do know that sometimes I do have to get out there and see new things and so I go – especially when it involves hanging with my oily peeps and seeing Imagine Dragons in concert. Ha! I HATE flying and had a horrible experience this trip, but it’s all good. I’m just NEVER getting on an airplane again! Y’all, I’m totally serious. I’d rather road trip the entire way, even if it’s clear across the country. Be sure to document even the hard, sucky things, too.

On the back of this page protector I folded up and tucked in a sweet drawing that Jack made for me of our family before I left. Y’all, it tugged at my heartstrings SO much when I was gone. I loved it, looked at it every day and missed my family SO much. It’s simple little things like that that I want to hang onto and remember … always. I just love his heart.

The last bit of journaling I did was a simple recap of some of the memories that I didn’t want to forget from the trip. They are super random, but that’s the way I like it.

And that, my friends, is my SLC travel mini album. I hope you enjoyed taking a look at it and that i inspired you to document a trip that you’ve taken recently (or long ago). Get those memories down, friends. You’ll be so happy that you did!

If you have any questions about this mini album, don’t hesitate to reach out or leave me a comment!

XO!
