Well, we’re at day 5 of the Pieces of Us project, friends and I’ve been loving it! It’s not the easiest to take photos of yourself every day, especially 3 a day, but this has been SO good. The prompts do get a bit harder as the days go on, but I’m up for the challenge. Here are my photos for day 5’s prompt: half-faced.
Just to be 100% transparent – I took these all on different days. Ha! The only one I took on day 5 is the bottom one and I’m ok with that. To me, it’s not about taking a certain photo on a certain day – it’s just about compiling the photos of myself from this project into one lump documentation and so I’m good if I don’t stay on track 100%. I had a couple of ideas on different days and so the top photo I took 2 days ago and the middle photo I took on day 4. Ha! You don’t have to follow the “rules” because well, the beauty of this kind of project is that YOU make the rules. Just snapping the photographs and writing down the story is the beauty in it all.
Every morning after we eat breakfast, Marlie and I go upstairs to my office. I want to sit down and get some work done, but Marlie has a different idea. She wants to play and will continuously drag out a toy from her basket and drop it at my feet, so I’ve learned to just play with her first, wear her out and THEN I can get some work done. She’s just the sweetest and cutest and I love the joy she brings into my life. I know she loves me, but I think she loves the carrots in my pocket a bit more. ;) Having a dog is a great reminder of unconditional love and just finding that joy every day.
I’ve always loved the color purple and so anytime I wear purple I feel a little extra sass and spunk. Ha! I need to add more purple to my closet, but it’s honestly never the first color that I go to – it’s usually black or grey. I need to change that. I am also so glad that I chopped 2 inches off of my hair recently. It felt good to have some of that weight lifted off of my shoulders (literally – my hair is SO thick and heavy) and I’m thankful for my sweet husband who always gives me a haircut. Just a couple of things that I’m loving right now.
Sitting at my desk to the light of my desk lamp is what I do every night. Today was a good day, but a flew by in a flash. I love the coziness of my office at night. I’m usually playing some music that I love, diffusing some of my favorite oils and either getting work done for my business or scrapbooking – both things I enjoy so much. I, of course, find lots of time to snuggle Marlie because at nighttime she is the snuggliest. Yep, I totally just made that word up, but that describes her perfectly when it gets close to her bedtime. About to call it a night, and start again in the morning. I feel like my face shows gratitude in this photo and I like that.
This is day five – half-faced.
If you’d like to learn more about this documentation project, head on over to Ali’s website HERE. She does SO many cool documentation projects. My favorites are Day in the Life, Week in the Life and December Daily. She’s just an all around rad story-teller and picture taker that I know you’d love.
