Morning, friends!
I thought it would be really fun to share here on the blog the documentation that I’m participating in this week called, Pieces of Us. Ali Edwards, one of my favorite life documenters, is heading this really cool self-portrait documentation up and it’s going on all week, so if you’d like to join, you totally should! It’s never too late!
Every day there is a word prompt (see above) and yesterday’s was FEET. I thought about just how I wanted to do this documentation and I think that I’m going to try to take 3 different pictures a day for each word that shows my life right now. I thought it would be fun to see more than one take on it during the day. Not quite sure where I’m going to put this photo documentation in right now, but I am already loving it. I think it’s really important for us as memory keepers to get in FRONT of the camera more. Oftentimes we find ourselves only behind the camera and not showing up in the photos and our kids and our families deserve to see us. WE deserve to see us and so that’s what I love about this project.
Here are the three photos I took on Monday:
These shoes crack me up. I think (and know) they are hideous looking – and it probably doesn’t help that usually I have some bright and colorful socks on with them, LOL, but my sweet husband thought of me trekking out in the mud, wet and cold of our yard to walk the dog (a lot) and picked these up for me because although he knew I wouldn’t like the look of them, he knew they would keep my feet dry and warm and boy was he right. It was a sweet gesture and so every time I put these shoes on to walk Marlie now, I thank God for him and for how much and how good he loves me. It’s those simple little things that mean the most and I (and my cozy, warm, dry feet) thank him.
Speaking of cozy feet, I am always wearing cozy, fun, happy socks. They’re my favorite. I got these Valentine socks at Target a couple of weeks back when Michael and I went on a day date and they are just THE softest. I was so happy to add them to my collection and they will get a lot of wear this week on love week. Love looking down and seeing the hearts.
Had to take a quick trip to the post office to pick up some postcards stamps and forever stamps to mail off some things. The weather has been so horrible lately, but it felt good to get out into the fresh air and rain a bit. I ventured out to our little country post office and, bless its heart, it’s usually just a bunch of old people and takes forever and yep, that was the case again. It took the post office worker about 5 minutes to find the postcard stamps I was needing, but that’s ok. Thankful for sweet, little towns and post offices when I forget to order them online. Gotta remember to definitely order them online for my March postcards for sure.
So there are my feet. Nothing too exciting about them, but I’m super thankful for them. They take me so many places, they are super ticklish, and they don’t complain much at all. Their heals could use a bit of lotion and right now there is gold glitter polish on them that needs to be redone, but that is real life. That is day one – feet.
If you’d like to learn more about this documentation project, head on over to Ali’s website HERE. She does SO many cool documentation projects. My favorites are Day in the Life, Week in the Life and December Daily. She’s just an all around rad story-teller and picture taker that I know you’d love.
