Here are my day 2 Pieces of Us photos for the day, friends. The second day’s prompt was: hands. I really love how this day turned out.
Starting my morning off with all of my supplements. Yup, this is a lot and actually I realized a bit later on that my Vitamin D capsule was still in my pocket to I took that after the fact. Ha! The older I get the more I realize just how important self-care is and THIS right here is my first form of self-care every morning. Making sure I am better at taking all of my supplements daily. Yep, daily. I’ve been known in the past to forget and not be consistent, but not this year. I also take a probiotic at night, too. So many supplements, but it’s so good. My body says THANK YOU.
This photo happened honestly by accident. It’s not the greatest photo, but it’s just the sweetest to me. This sweet dog takes up a lot of my day right now. She just turned 1 and is my constant shadow. She comes up to me when I’m sitting at my desk a lot and either drops a toy at my feet or barks at me to tell me to get off of my phone or stop typing. I reached out to pet her and she sweetly put her head in my hand and started to lick me and so I grabbed my phone, which was of course close, LOL, and snapped this photo super quickly. She is the sweetest and so loving and I’m just so thankful for her + the unconditional love of a dog.
This last photo I wanted to take because I vividly remember looking at both my Mom and my Dad’s hands as they drove when I was little. When I close my eyes I can still see them in my mind. Hands really tell so many stories, don’t they? This photo tells a lot of stories, too. Here they are:
When Caylin and I went to snag some frenchie fries today, I decided to snap a photo of my hands on the steering wheel. The stories that this photo tells is one of the short little drives that Caylin and I take together when we go down the road to the grocery store or hit up Pal’s for frenchie fries for lunch. I love hanging out with her and we have so much fun chatting, giggling and listen to Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes while I drive. She jokes on me when we go through drive-thru’s – she says that I continue talking to her even as I’m pulling up to the window and that it’s weird and so I make it a point to stop our conversation and tell her that I can’t talk to her since I have to order. Ha! I also love seeing my wedding ring in this photo. I always wanted a simple, yet beautiful diamond ring and Michael got it just right when he asked me to marry him 19 years ago. I never take it off. The other thing I see is this new nail polish color that I have on my nails. It’s a bit bright and bold, not really my style, but I’m going with it. It’s already chipped a bit, but the sparkle is fun. It’s kinda is a good representation of my life – a bit chipped, but still bright and sparkly. ;) Then there’s the grey sweater which I am always wearing nowadays. It’s like my uniform, ask my family. It’s just cozy and warm and it seems like every year I pick a new sweater to wear all of the time. This year it’s this grey sweater and I’m not sorry about it.
These are my hands. They’re strong, they’ve rocked babies to sleep, held babies as I breastfed at all hours of the day, they have injected my daughter with life-giving insulin hundreds, if not thousands of times, they’ve wiped away tears, they give lots and lots of hugs, they type super fast helping me connect with others and help them and do a job that I love, they write on the dry-erase board as we do school and they throw up the “I love you” sign a lot, too.
This is day two – hands.
If you’d like to learn more about this documentation project, head on over to Ali’s website HERE. She does SO many cool documentation projects. My favorites are Day in the Life, Week in the Life and December Daily. She’s just an all around rad story-teller and picture taker that I know you’d love.
